Numerical Simulation of Flow Field Characteristics of The Cooling Water Jacket of A Marine Diesel Engine

In order to evaluate the flow field characteristics of a marine diesel engine cooling water jacket, and provide theoretical basis for further optimizing jacket structure. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was used calculate three-dimensional jacket. Based on CFD simulation model analysis pressure field, velocity streamline distribution uniformity under rated condition were carried out. The results show that: total loss is 30.3 kPa, in which cylinder block 8.4 one head outlet manifold 21.9 indicates that resistance design reasonable; rate coolant nose zone above 1.5 m/s, meets demand head; flows circumferentially dead zones are easily formed by mutual extrusion collision flows; connected with at right angle, leads large energy field; maximum non-uniformity each 5.85%, can be optimized adjusting position inlet.
